This is awesome. We should all encourage artistry and creativity in our children.

So true! Coloring is for children, art is for children… well, no! I have adult coloring books, some with swearing, and I color in them all the time. Very relaxing! Not to mention, freestyling is a possibility.

    • So true! I actually enjoy coloring more now than I did as a kid- but then, as a kid I was coloring on the walls and getting in trouble for it… that could be the reason.

That would be a reason to love coloring as a kid more – the freedom, lol. But yes, coloring is so zen, so relaxing as you explore contrast and differences. Such a metaphor for life. Plus, lots of swear words in the particular book I’m coloring, lol.

I should post one of them. Very entertaining. Like a zen activity, plus art, plus the release of some funny swear word phrase. Great fun!

  3. Ms Madly, you are now a big person and the walls are your own so have at colouring those walls!

Parents tend to pay a lot of lip service and then when you step up and say that art is the path you desire to take, many take it away and insist you sign for the “Main Stream Curriculum”. Their house their rules right?

    • Actually, the walls belong to the landlord…

      • This might work. Should you have a unit matter real or imagined, tell the Lord you left the message on the wall.

How is it your fault he doesn’t speak Madly…. er yeah there will be speaking madly but not that way.

        • I look forward to the day I can ask the landlord if he’s seen the writing on the wall!

…And just what do you mean by ‘imagined’?

        • I figure if you go “Imaginist” on the walls it would be an imagined reason to tell the landlord about how some deviant broke in and made art on the wall.

        • Someone broke into my apt just to make art on the walls…

          I think he’ll believe it.

        • Now you just have to execute the plan or crystalize the pain. Either is good.

We’ll be needing pics of course.

    • Thank you! I agree, it should be encouraged- especially over algebra, because who uses algebra after high school?

  5. I grew up with a lot of weird people; my Mum was a teacher, her teachers’ friends were child psychologist, or psychoanalyst… Yeah, it was weird. In one of my Mum’s best friend’s bathroom was a postcard: a kid playing on the sea shore. It just said at the bottom: ” A child lives in the wonderful, nothing seems to them as more natural”. I decided to live my life with this wise “adage”…
