About Sister Madly
“How singularly innocent I look this morning…”
Sister Madly is a cynic.
She is conceited, lazy and naughty.
She knows what she ought not do,
But does it anyway;
Throwing snowballs at cars
Ringing doorbells and running away.
She’s the devil on my shoulder,
The person I shouldn’t be-
She’s all my imperfections
And the other half of me.
She also likes to cook. Sometimes.
…So busy yearning for the Moon to notice the Sixpence at {her} feet…
-W. Somerset Maugham

Sister Madly, as you are no doubt an expert in all things mischievous, mad, and unusual, I must defer to your expertise.
At the Hatter’s last Tea Party I made the acquaintance of a Rabbit, who arrived late, as is his poor habit. Yours truly fell into conversation with the tardy and homely looking Rabbit and learned that the poor fellow is incredibly lovesick. He recounted the strange but touching tale of his pursuit of his One True Love, who has 1000 faces, each just as beautiful as the last. Though others at the Party commented and jibed that not all of these faces sounded at all lovable, the Rabbit thoroughly convinced me that, though his clock runs behind, his eyes see beauty in all things, even the scariest and darkest. The Rabbit counts himself unspeakably fortunate to have a love with 1000 faces because, after all, who wouldn’t wish to fall in love with their One True Love 1000 different times and ways? One such visage that the dear Rabbit described seemed as if it may have been inspired by Sister Madly herself! It is no surprise to this reader, as Sister Madly is no doubt an untamable and beautiful creature who has surely influenced many! While he is certain of his love, the good Rabbit is unaccustomed to such overwhelming emotion…falling in love 1000 times is A LOT of love to fit into one Rabbit! Sister Madly, do you have any advice that I can pass along to him?

I’m not sure I’m an expert- there is always room for growth in the fields of mischief and madness!
He may, indeed, be fortunate to have such a love, but even more fortunate is the one who has been loved this thousand different times and in a thousand different ways.
As for advice… let’s just say I can only hope that his True Love knows of his sentiment, and shares it. Most people just want to know that they are loved for who they are.
Also, forget the 12 Days of Christmas. When it comes to true love, that is not the way to go- regardless of what the song claims. ;c)

Well this is a rare treat, and brought joy and levity to my Sunday morning. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, and deeply, fundamentally reassuring to know that there is somebody who sees the world as clearly as you do, and has the honest affrontery to speak up about it. All power to your elbow.
I did, as it happens, attend a school which taught dark sarcasm. Unfortunately the children who taught it were utterly devoid of style, and ‘panache’ was considered foreign muck, and never served at our canteen. Oh well.
Thank you once again for brightening my day… I shall return when clouds loom.

Dark sarcasm should always be accompanied by style and panache, otherwise, what is the point? Sometimes I wonder about the educational system.
And thank you for the encouragement. I appreciate you stopping by!

A fine new look you’ve acquired, adapted, adopted, Ms Madly. I will admit being partial to the lid.
Bullwinkle does say thank you for the hat and as per the norm, wrong hat.
The answer to all your leg questions is, “Me”.

ALL my leg questions? Such as, why is it painted plaid, or where did it go THIS time?
And I think Bullwinkle would just fine in that hat, as long as he takes good care of it- he is only borrowing it, you know.

Plaid because you ran out of black? Where did it go as in it gets in to everything?
Bullwinkle uses the hat for his pull a rabbit trick that never works.

Hey Girl,
It’s me again, It seems through-out the years that I cannot start a new site without contacting you. I’m not sure what that says about me, but I guess there’s just something about you that seems like home. Your words, the way you use them – You’re surprising, and refreshing, like the first bite into spearmint chewing gum, and you’re just sitting there, maybe now you’re even reading my words. I appreciate your friendship after so many years. We really don’t know each other do we? if you’d like to rectify that, don’t hesitate to ask this time. I’ll leave you with a song. . . I was writing and thinking of this city just today. I was stationed not too far from Havana, and in all candor, I’ve been there, and know it quite well.
