L’Art Du Soleil

The Artist Produces
For the Liberation of his Soul.

It is his Nature
To Create

As it is the Nature of Water
To Run Down the Hill.

~ Somerset Maugham

Filipino Solar Artist, Jordan Mang-osan, harnesses the power of the sun to create intricate works of art. With a magnifying glass, he focuses the sun’s rays to burn his visions into slabs of wood.

    • I’d like to try this wood burning technique, but I’d probably end up setting the house of fire.

… which, incidentally, is the opposite of creation.

        • Somehow, I don’t think the EPA would like that very much.

        • Picky sources say that charcoal is bad for the environment. Making my own wouldn’t endear me to those individuals in the least.

Then again, those sources eat salads… no doubt their judgement is clouded.

        • You can tell those picky sources that sometimes fire is required for germination. Maybe you could set one on them salad eaters on fire and see if they grow! Oh wait…. all that salad consumption, water, it’ll never work.

  3. Charcoal is fine… burning it to nothing is the issue.

Actually this bloke could save himself hours by just setting fire to a stick and drawing with the charcoal… Still, each to their own.

    Mine’s a barbeque…woodsmoke, anyone?
