Coconut Flour Cheese Biscuits

This originally was intended to be a recipe blog, but in the end, Sister Madly got in the way. She likes to cook, certainly, but only seems to feel like it when she’s down the street at the pub, and never after. Food often spoils in her fridge once the will to cook had died upon returning from the market.

When the decision was made to expand it into a recipe/crafty blog, Sister Madly pointed out that she hadn’t cleaned in a while, that she most likely would not be doing so in the near future, and would you please do something about that spider crawling up the wall.

(There had also been a disagreement on the definition of ‘crafty’ as she took to a more literal sense of the word.)

It was then suggested that the blog should be about nothing in particular- “carte blanche, Sister Madly, carte blanche”– and it was to this that Sister Madly finally agreed in those last cheerful moments before launching down the Springwater Trail, resulting in a long and horrible bike ride of bees, hail, opposing winds, miserable cold, two flat tires and an extremely sore bum.

Sister Madly, you see, is conceited, lazy and naughty.

But she makes an excellent Cheese Biscuit. (Coconut Flour)

More and more grocers are carrying it these days. It’s usually found in the organic/health food sections, or with gluten-free products. Thanks for stopping by!

  10. All (ok, most) character flaws can be forgiven if one is a good cook. I will certainly be trying these soon.

      Vixen- love it!

On a side note, it’s a shame more people don’t understand that we truly aren’t at fault for what these personalities do.

  15. There I was, stood in the supermarket, wondering why I was buying coconut flour. Silly me, trying to put cause before effect again – when will I learn?
Anyhow, eggs and cheese from the farmer’s market also made it into my backpack before I arrived home and found this recipe. You knew!
I have never even heard of old bay seasoning – maybe it doesn’t travel this far – so I used madras curry powder instead and the results were delectable.
    Thank you once again.

    • Synchronicity strikes!

Old Bay is mainly paprika, celery salt, and some other ambiguous ‘spices’and is often found with the seafood, but I have no idea if it’s sold outside the States.

Curry powder, though- love the idea! I will have to try it. Thank you! ;c)

  16. Omgosh! I am going to have to look into the carb count on these! I know I can use a little of coconut flour from time to time, But I don’t have the numbers yet! Lol I hope these biscuits will work for me!!

    • I hope it works out for you as well!

Based on the brand of coconut flour I use – Coconut Secret – there’s 9 carbs in 2 tbsp. 1/3 cup (which is approx 5 tbsp + 1 tsp) of coconut flour = 24 carbs.

In the recipe I say it makes 6-8 biscuits, but those would be quite large- I usually manage anywhere from 10 to 14 smaller ones. Hope that helps! ;c)
